Need help
Posted: Mon Feb 26, 2007 10:21:42 PM

I am thinking very seriously of becoming a trucker but I im not really sure if its for me or not. I know for sure right now I do not want to go OTR. I am leaning toward regional but I am worried about home time and how it will affect my family and everything.....can someone shed some light on this for me and help me make my decision??

if you cant handle being apart from your family.....otr is not for you...u dont need the stress, neither does your family...if you can land a regional job where the pay is good...id probably go for some thing in that line... good luck

I would have to agree,There is a lot of stress on otr truck drivers.  There is a great demand on the driver and most companys want you to stay out three to four weeks at time then only want you to take one day per week you are out.  there are a lot of "local" jobs but the hours are long and stressfull.  Its a dogs life at best, and much worse for a familly man.
