Need advice on career in Trucking

I'd like to get a p/t on the job type of training job for driving tucks. I'm in the Navy in Ventura CA, I'm going to put myself through the school to get my CDL soon, then buy a truck. Just need a good company that will take me in p/t while I'm still in the Navy now, what way I'll roll right into a new career when I get out. I'll retire in 2008.
