Interesting What You Learn being New in the Industry...
Posted: Wed Sep 14, 2011 6:44:49 AM

A recently school grad (April) and getting my feet wet, I have learned a lot (and still learning)... Most trucking companies will tell you what they want you to know and hear. And! Being a new student, there are ONLY a hand full of companies that will take you on...  Very few options available to a newbie...

One thing I can say for sure is, don't get into being a lease/owner right off the bat...    learn the business first, learn the industry before you take on a committment of being an owner/operator, unless you have a deposable income which most of us don't have...

TransAm pushes their leasing program onto new students, telling you that 1500/1600 miles is the break even point. RIGHT!!! Totally B.S. They don't care about their drivers, let alone your home time. Recently being with them, they purposely changed my home time, without my consent, so that they could manipulate my schedule for a load that other drivers were refusing to haul....

Never return your calls and want to communicate with you ONLY through their satelite system.... Their recruiters have no clue how you're treated once you're in. DO NOT agree to their leasing program, you'll go broke.

A couple of other companies to stay away from are Werner and US XPress....   Beware!!!
