Hotshot hauling on a class c cdl
Posted: Mon Jul 9, 2007 9:45:35 AM

I'm starting a hotshot hauling business.  I will be driving an F250 with a 30 foot trailer.  My gross weight does not exceed 26,100 lbs, so I am not able to get a class A cdl.  Can I haul hotshot loads with a class c cdl?  Any info is appreciated.  Thanks!

You had better keep it under 26100lbs or you will get fined for IFTA. You will need to check with your local drivers license office and find out what you will need in the way of experiance. You can get a tranee license but you have to ride with some one for a time ,pass a writen test, and adriving test. There is a lot more to it than just to have the license.--- You want need the CDL if you do not haul cars or anything that is deamed dangerous.

Also set your IRP at 36000lbs and buy the ifta license ,UCR,DOT -- better check on the insurance first you may not be able to get the insurance-- cost around $5000 a year.-- Billy
