Trucking Business Rip Offs
Posted: Fri Sep 10, 2010 1:47:08 PM

The trucking industry just loves to rip off new drivers and discrimminates against both seasoned and rooky drivers. They will try this many ways. New drivers who do not have any experience in the industry will be ripped off because they do not know how to handle things. New drivers, should ALWAYS make sure that they recieve a 'clean' truck, and NOT  a half broken down overheating bag that may leave you stranded on the road so the company can blame you for it's demise. Any truck you sign for is YOUR truck with YOUR signature, so make sure that EVERYTHING WORKS BEFORE ACCEPTING IT, and that it is CLEAN BEFORE ACCEPTING IT. Do NOT let anyone try to force you into a truck you do not like ot feel comfortable with PERIOD. Well seasoned and experienced drivers with many years under their belts are routinely discrimminated against by company RECRUITERS who have never spent one day on the road or never driven a truck before because all they do is travel for free on th company dime lying about how great the company is blah blah blah. ALL companies out there play games with rookies and seasoned drivers when applying, they do this by stating that they are equal opportunity employers, then will play the game "unfortunately" blah blah blah. They do this by violating federal law and discrimminates by saying MUST HAVE 1 year ""RECENT"" OTR experience in the last 3 years etc.... That means anyone who has been out doing other things for awhile and still maintains a valid clean dmv, and license has to simply argue with the recruiter and tell him or her what kind of ignorant idiot they are because they read off a company cue policy. Recruiters are suppossed to RECRUIT yet act like God with both new and seasoned drivers. Never Never Never do ANYTHING UNSAFE, and ALWAYS make sure you get paid for what you do when it's payday. Never Never NEVER accept a load a dispatcher 'begs' you to take as a HOT load. It simply means the company dispatcher didnt get it dispatched so that it could be delivered to a customer when promised, basically it has missed it's delivery date and they want to pin the late delivery upon the driver. There are may good and great things about the business and horrible things. This post is just a few I have experienced in my 28 years as a licensed Class A driver. If you will work for a port or harbor company and they try to tell you you MUST have a TWIC before applying then dont work for that company. A (TWIC) card is a federal REAL ID that YOU have to pay for and waive ALL you rights. The TSA says it's required, yet says possessing it does not guarantee that it will be accepted for the very purpose they say it's required for. I know huh. Good luck rookies and dont let any recruiter give you blah blah blah about your experience, you HAVE a license and that makes you QUALIFIED.
