Hello,  I created this topic to assist others in their questions regarding Transam Trucking.  I will day by day give updated reports from the start to the finish to show either negative or positive remarks.  I will update this daily and answer any questions you have posted to assist you.  I am doing this objectional and will only post facts,  no opinions.

Day 1

I applied on the website transamtruck.com as a Lease Operator.  I filled out the application completely and honestly leaving no gaps of employment of any questions unanswered.

Day 2

Received a message from recruiting they needed me to fax a Employment Verification Form to them.  I faxed it.

Day 7

About a week later I received a call from Recruiting and the recruiter asked me a few questions.  I will list a few.  Have I ever tested positive for a drug test,  Have I refused a drug test, will I pass a drug test,  Do I have any felonies or misdemeanors,  have I ever had my license revoked.

I answered all questions honestly.  I was told that my application has been completed and that it will be forwarded to management for approval.

6 hours later I received a call stating I was approved and when I was ready for orientation.  I said, right away.  Scheduled for Aug 26, 2009.  Since I live close to Olathe, KS I opted to get a ride,  instead of the bus ride offered by Transam.

I will be at the Holiday Inn for orientation. I have to be there Tue Aug 25, 2009 after 3:00pm,  was sent a list of required things to bring.

**NOTE**  All of my employers going back 5 years were all verified.  They called every employer I listed.  So you better be honest in your history.

I will update this topic on Tuesday Aug 25, when I get to the Holiday Inn.

Ok made it here to Olathe, KS.  Am staying at the Holiday Inn.  Checked in no problems.  Have a roomate as expected since normal rates are around 90.00 a night.  There is a lounge setup as well as morning continental breakfast,  which means coffee and donuts basically.  Getting settled in,  will report tomorrow on the days events.

Orientation Day 1 Completed

Left hotel at 630 am to arrive at Transam Yard.  Went to conference room where we filled out paperwork.  Took a drug test and then a road test.  After that we had some Pizza Hut delivererd.  We then had more talking about basically its Transam way or the Highway.  You are basically talked down to like a child.   If you lease as they call it.  You go look at the trucks that they have or if your training you listen to someone tell you how to back up a truck.  Using models.  It was basically a slow dragging day.  Really didnt do anything but drug test and road test.  Tomorrow is suppose to be interesting.  The trucks mostly are 2008 and 2009 KW T660's.  The occassional 2010 is available if you sign a 4 year lease.  Will bring you more tomorrow.

Ok well you go look at a truck and sign a over priced lease.  I will show break down later.  More boring class time.  Basically more

and more of the same old things you learned years ago in pre-school.

Told to pack bags in the morning since you are not attending class after friday.

Orientation Day 3

Well finished day 3,  found out for the 3 days you get paid a flat 50.00 for 3 days, so around 17 or so a day.

Ok on the lease wow, its rocket science.

Truck Lease 575  Insurance 165.01 (all of them)  APU 50.00 Satellite 15.00 Prepass/Tolls 6.40  HV Tax 10.58  Performance 50.00

Total of 871.99 a Week, plus .03 per mile charge.  .04 To Maintainance Fund + .01 Fuel Tax

So its 871.99 plus .08 per mile.

You get .84

you pay for all fuel minus fuel surchage of .27 per LOADED mile.

Picked up my first load saturday going 585 miles.

Went smooth.  I was billed since friday for lease, even though you were in class and didnt get a load.

so still in the minus.

Well today is Wednesday so far totalled 1787 miles this week.  After Fuel and miles net pay is 128.00 

Better than -128.00

Been parked for over 24 hours, still no load.

No load = Fuel card is off, until dispatched, so Hope my APU stays going or I might have to drop a 50 in the tank.

I hope it gets better,  but seems thats the average.

Transam grossed over 5000.00 for the loads, minus the payment.  they made a killing.  They only pay like 800.00 a month for the trucks.  Plus they didnt pay any fuel or payroll taxes.  so they netted like 4000.00,  since I caught a peek at their screen on day and the load going 987 miles paid 2,670.00 thats like 2.60 a mile.

imagine 4000.00 * 100 trucks = 400,000.00 a week they get paid to have other pay.  Wow.
