I am presently with this lousy good for nothing company. that should say alot. i went through a local training agency, then sent out apps to alot of companies. trans am contacted me first and i should have been warned. i did not know of their bad rep before i went to orientation. they put me out with a new coach that knew nothing of what the company did or what their policies were. after that was testing in kansas to see if you could actually drive. so to put it bluntly and factually they send you out on the road with a person that doesnt really know the company, only to bring you back to the yard to fill your head with more stuff to try and push you into leasing a truck rather than being a company driver. the company drivers that were standing around waiting for work made the choice for me to lease rather than sitting around like a piece of furniture. that was not a good choice either. yet the only other choice i had after orientation was to buy my own bus ticket back home. this company does everything in their power to trap you into making bad descisions after you are there. when i did get out on the road i was basically pennyless. they will put you into a truck knowing full well that you have no money to survive with on the road. yes they do give fuel cards with the availability to get cash from but they charge a fee that is higher than most charge accounts when you do. i have had numerous weeks with no pay and the only thing they care about is that their truck is moving. look for other companies , this one is just no good |

I just had to comment on your post. My husband is a 20 year veteran OTR and has worked for alot of companies and TransAm is by far the worst. We took their truck back 5-30-2010 after him being out 3 weeks+ at a time and no paycheck for over a month. I told him to come on home. Sitting home on his ass and making no money was by far a better choice than running 2500+ miles a week and having a negative pay settlement. Anytime he called to talk with someone at Trans Am to see how to make it better they told him he was doing great. Sure it looks great on paper to see he's ran 35,000+ miles in 5 months and the truck has made THOUSANDS. My hubby on the other hand has had 1 paycheck in 5 months that was $700. All others have been less than $400(way less and several were less than $200). For 4 weeks straight he was NEGATIVE $400 to $600. We have never had trouble meeting our financial obligations until he started with TransAm. I cannot pay all our bills on my paycheck alone and when we returned their truck we were 2 mortgage payments behind and 2 car payments behind and I can barely get enough money together to buy groceries for my family. The paperwork they show you at orientation look great. They show $2000 and over settlements but what they dont show you is everything that comes out of that which brings your ACTUAL settlement to much less. He's even had settlements as low as $47. Thats not even enough to run on for a week if you plan to eat at all while you're out there. Thank God he only signed on a 6 month lease instead of a year or more. If he had we would have lost everything we have. If you do decide to give TransAm a try, DO NOT, and i repeat, DO NOT lease for longer than 6 months cause that's the only one that you can turn in a 2 weeks notice and walk away without legal ramifications. The accounting firm they employ to handle your affairs said it all for me. When we got the quarterly statement from Pickett, Chaney and McMullen Certified Public Accountants it informed him there was no estimated tax payment due at this time. No kidding! It's hard to pay taxes on no earnings! Per CPA calculations, my hubby had total revenue thru 4-30-2010 of $30,036 but after lease payments and everything else TransAm charges the driver for his YEAR TO DATE TAXABLE INCOME was (drum roll please) a whopping $602!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Little wonder there was no income taxes due for the first quarter. And that's for a total of $602. net taxable revenue. So you see who made money, not the driver. Then to top it all off, when we returned their truck, they told us it would be 3 weeks before they settled up. They need to check out the truck for damage(there is none but am sure they'll find something) and wait for all fuel receipts etc to come thru before he gets his last settlement and she says and I quote, "You'll either get a paycheck or a bill". We fully expect a bill even though he has a total of $1.164 in the escrow accounts they set up for the driver from day 1. All I can say is DONT DO IT unless you don't have any family(no reason to ever go home or even have a home), no bills(no reason to have a paycheck)and don't ever plan to eat anything other than whatever crumbs you can lick off the floor of your truck that was left from the last person that had it or whatever belly button lint you might have. Sounds like a great job to have doesn't it? JUST DON'T DO IT!!!! |

I recently attended the orientation for Trans Am and was tricked into the LEASE PROGRAM because they told us they were going to send us home if we did not lease. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. They lied from A-Z. First they told us we would be in new trucks if we signed up for the lease. LIE. Second they told us the payment was a flat 635 per week. LIE. (They charged an additional .05 per mile for ALL MILES) Third, they told us the fuel and the def that was in the truck was on the house. LIE. Then they told us anything that goes wrong with the truck in the first 30 days was covered by the Company. LIE. I got a flat tire in Greeley, Colorado. They sent a man over with a new tire for me as they would not patch the steer tire. I was charged $799 for a tire that if I walked in off the street would cost me $516 plus the service call of $98 dollars. THEY MADE MONEY ON THEIR OWN DRIVER WITH AN EMERGENCY REPAIR JOB. LIE. Then when they finally left me sitting in Oklahoma City for 14 hours with no dispatch or phone calls, I returned the truck to Olathe, Ks and had enough. Now I get a bill, after driving over 3000 miles and not getting paid one dime, for $611 in fees they say I owe. DO YOU THINK THAT I AM GOING TO PAY IT? LOL. This is only part of one man's history with TRANS AM LEASING. Do not walk, RUN, as fast as you can away from this Company. All trucking companies can't be like this one. GOOD LUCK AND BEWARE. LIARS ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!
