Yes. I remember them. I attended there around 1986. There home office was in Pheonix if I remember correctly. I attended resident training south of Indianapolis, IN. Thats about all I remember about them. I doubt very seriously that I still have any paperwork from way back then. Good Luck! cj

Oh one more thing: A lot of the students from their school were hired by USA truck back then. I went to work for a company called ComTrans out of Indy...a subsidiary of North American Van Lines. I believe they are out of business now. But USA is still going strong. Maybe someone from USA remembers them.

Mark, I recall that for heavy equipment training, the actual hands on training was supposed to take place at Superior Training's Bristol, PA site. I had taken the book part somewhere around 1986 or 1987 but I was not able to go to Bristol. I just tried to search the internet for Superior but I do not think they exist at least under that name anymore. (tom.hudson@hotmail.com)

I attended that School as well although I did the range and road training in Phoenix, AZ. went through in early 1988...I believe they went out of business shortly after that.

Holy cow!

Thought I was unique, but another one bites the dust on superior scam central.

received the 30 page document from a circuit court of Indiana on the bankruptcy, the local memphis office was closed without notice, never went to school with no answers to be found. 22 years later the gov't says I owe.

I was an employee of Superior during the early 80s, they were based in Indy with their main training area at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh Indiana.

The owner and chief crook was Gary Eyler, he used to brag about starting the school with nothing and just flunking people on the home course portion until he got enough money to buy equipment.

He got hooked up with some shady people from New Jersey who financed much of his expansion.

He owned three jets and numerous sports cars during his heyday.

I have read about alot of people whom have been screwed by Superior Training Services. I'ts almost impossilbe to get out of a student loan. I was 17 years old in 1987 when I started my education with Superior Training Services. I Completed about half of the book work for heavy equipment. I didn,t finish th course but was obligated to paying back a student loan of a little over 3000. dollars. I was told the school in Phonix didn't have all the equipment they were supposed to have. I cant confirm that. I never payed back the loan and had my federal income tax refund taken every year which wasn't much but one day in 1998 I contacted the Deparyment of education and asked about working out a payment plan. The lady looked at my records and asked me if I had a GED or High school diploma at the time I applied for the loan, I told her no, I think she sent me a form to fill out and send back and It took over a year but I was released from the loan and was refunded money taken from my  tax returns. If anyone has applied for a student loan and didn't have a GED Or High school diploma you may be entitled to a release of the loan and refund of any payments made. Good luck to everyone out there!

Any student loans originated before 01/01/1987 are not eligible for discharge for not having an GED/HIGH SCHOOL according to the Dept. of ED.
However, they SUED THE SCHOOL for not providing enough "man hours of training and pulled they ability to participate in the student school loan
program. after suit was brought, the school closed and the fraud lawsiut was settled for $50,000.00 after the school and its owner filed bankruptcy.

The schools owner and the school also had IRS PROBLEMS AND shut superior down , but the continental training services Inc. is still in business
to this day under a new umbrella company known as the "
THE COLLEGE NETWORK, INC.
3815 RIVER CROSSING PARKWAY
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA  46240 USA
800-395-3276
In 1988, the United States, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a $366 million lawsuit against CTS. The federal government also withdrew CTS's eligibility to participate in various government student loan programs. This withdrawal was later judicially determined to be a violation of CTS's constitutional right to due process, but by the time this news arrived CTS was financially ruined.

Although I am replying to this message years later. Maybe this will still be of some help to others.

I also went to Superior Training School back in 1988. I do have a little information you may contact the NASFAA. I was looking aro und for information about Superior, this is what I came across regarding the loan. http://www.nasfaa.org/publications/1998/97-g-300.html

Look at the closures and you will see Superior Training Services listed as number 8 on the list. Then this should help those that had loans like all of us did to get them resolved.

I attended the school in Indiana, when I went to try and get a job I was told they never heard of or worked with this school. At that point I knew that any one that went to this school was ripped of.  I was also told by the US Department of ED was i got the training and I had to pay the loans back.

Also Superior Training Services started closing in July of 1989 this is also listed on the NASFAA website. The F.B.I. came out to speak with me about Superior too, there was a case filed in Massachusetts, though I haven't been able to find any info.  If anyone was in the Rialto, California class in 1988 you may contact me at

I graduated the class of 86. I had a hard time trying to talk to the school and found out they closed. How can I get proof of attendance? Even the Rialto, CA DMV had no proof or documentation that I took and received my license there.
