Strange spedometer problem

I started having speometer problems last summer. Started bouncing. I re-adjusted sender, did not help. Bought new sender, fixed problem for 2mo till cold weather came. Started bouncing again until the truck ran 10 mi or so. It bounced less when loaded after the tranny got hot. Above 55deg it almost works fine. Now it's 20-40deg and it trips the check eng code and only gives me 1500rpm max, and is pinned on 80mph. It gets stranger. I have checked the driveline and nothing seems loose, but after I greased everything the other day it worked perfect for 50mi. Then I stopped, loaded my trailer, and it went back to not working. I don't think it's the dash cluster. Can magnetic picups go bad. Truck is a 2000 WStar with 60series 10sp eatonfuller. I am a mechanic/OO losing my mind over this. Thanks for any input. |

all i can say is maybe you got a bad sending unit, it acts just like mine did ,bounceing, pegging, going from 10 mph to 80 mph then working fine, drove me nuts new sensor cleared it up like i said maybe you got a bad one when you got the new one |
