Starting my own company in TX
Posted: Tue Jul 18, 2006 8:30:22 AM

Hello;

 I'm looking for some information on starting my own company. I currently work for one of the leading Aggregate companies in the U.S. Now I'm looking to move to Texas and start my own trucking company. My question is how can I go about getting contracts, to haul the material. I'm not from TX. But I have done some of research into the location and the surronding locations, for competing companies. I have tried to contact them to find out how to go about starting my own company. But sorry to say no one was willing to help. I currently have 2 trucks and other sources willing to invest into this company with my self. If some one could plz help guide me in the right direction. What I'm looking to do is haul out of the one of the quarry's or sales yards for the current company that I work for. But I'm not sure if I have to go threw a already self exsiting contracting company

Dana,

First you need to check Texas law on trucking and if there is a state operating authority or not. Once you know thaty, you know if you have to get your own authority or have to  operate thru another  company. (I highhly suggest you work threu sdomeone first. So you lean the trade) If you can operate on your own then you need to knock, call, meet, or contact them and make an agreement with volume and rates. Get a contract in writing,even better. Note: If they have enough trucks that provide them service your are defeating your purpose. Just because you want to have a trucking company doesn't mean there is a need for it in your area! You must establish that first and foremost. You are right no one will help. Business is business! It cqan be brutal and trucking is no different. If you have any more questions feel free to ask
