RE:Select trucks - and why not to do that. Own your truck, DO NOT LEASE.

I worked for companies driving their trucks. I leased a truck, and that was a nightmare. I now own my own rig, well I have 18 more payments to go, but she is mine nonetheless. And I wouldn't have it any other way. My truck, my rules. Get hold of a good - HONEST - load broker, tell them you want to buy a rig but you will need to have at least ____ amount of money to pay your bills. Most brokers are pretty good but there are a few in Phx, AZ that are amazing. They kept me on the road when I wanted to be on the road, I made very good money and have been able to turn a 5 year contract into less than 4 years. Just be realistic in how much money you will need for the payments, insurance, life insurance and health insurance, and make sure you put some money away for that unknown that WILL HAPPEN, trust me, if it can happen it will. Have at least 2 grand put away that you do NOT touch in case something major happens to your truck. And if you are going to buy a rig, also join American Drivers Association to protect your CDL. You can't make a living if your MVR is bad. You can call them at: 1-800-944-4948 or visit their website at: www.americandriversassociation.com. |
