If your were speaking of Merit Transportation Co. LLC out of Omaha, Ne then I would have to say highly consider your options.

I used to work in the operations section of the house, The Owners got a wise Idea a few years ago to over extend themselves.  Basically they had the little man complex (that's what happens when your owner want's to be Warner with out willing to give the respect to those that assisted with building the company).  Over the last 2 years a majority of their senior drivers had left the company because they grew from a good respectable company to a Warner Wanta-be.  They have beautiful equipment, but their operations is constantly in dis-array, one part of the house has no clue as to what's happening in another, getting a straight answer from anyone there is like pulling teeth, getting home can take an act of god at times, the quality of miles, leangth of hauls have constantly decreased.  Again I will not flat out say do not work for them because of this information but I do reccomend that you ask around, and continue to look around.  Your in a position that there is a high demand for Qualified Drivers, You can nearly go to any company as long as you have a decent history, this is just an observation and a reccomendation.

This company is in serious trouble. They have no health insurance for there employees. there are employees that have thousands of dollars of unpaid claims because of the dishonesty of the owner. They are still deducting from the employees pay for coverage they do not have. The equipment is being turned in (repossesed) as I write this.

It is just a matter of time before this company implodes. Hopefully the employees will receive help from an government agency on the health care. There are claims from April 07 that have not been paid on open heart surgeries. Hopefully management will pay for the fraud they have put on there employees.

No! Merit Transportation is NOT a good company to run for. On October 19,2007 they filed for bankruptcy.  I worked for them for a while. In August, we were supposed to get our bonuses, monthly and quaterly. We were given a message the day before we were to get them they the bonuses were pulled. That was to be part of our promised salary. At the end of August, we were informed that we were no longer covered under United Healthcare. In reality, Merit cancelled our insurance April 2,2007.  We paid our premiums for almost 5 months without being told we had no insurance. Gary Wills put the money in his pocket.  As of November 1, 2007, there are over 200 complaints to the State of Nebraska over health insurance, withholding wages among other issues.  The cimpany has had 200 trucks repossessed and over 150 trailers also repossessed. DO NOT WORK FOR MERIT!!!!  This can all be verified by Newsweek,The State of Nebraska and  a former Merit Exec. Thank you
