ATTENTION ALL PILOT CARS INSURED WITH PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE COMPANY....Pay close attention to your insurance renewal. Progressive has changed our policies to ACTUAL CASH VALUE instead of STATED AMOUNTS. We all know, our vehicles aren't worth a thing three years after buying them brand new, due to the high mileage on them and we used to be able to state our own values, as to over insure them, but PROGRESSIVE has since found another way to screw us all over by trying to charge us insurance based on the KELLY BLUE BOOK VALUE, which we all know, does not apply to our vehicles. For example, my husband bought a 2008 F350 Diesel truck. When I ran the average miles of 20,000 per year, the value was just about $29,000, but when I ran the actual miles, the value dropped to $18,000. Progressive doesn't know the actual mileage on our vehicles, which is what drops the value if you have an accident. I have had numerous conversations with Progressive regarding this matter. When I asked how they were determining my vehicle value, they couldn't tell me, when I asked how they came up with my premium amount, they couldn't tell me, as well as many other questions I had, they couldn't explain themselves. I have submitted a complaint with the Insurance Commissioners and I suggest all others to do the same. Progressive told me, dump trucks, semis and other commercial vehicles can state their values, but they are lumping us in with regular personal vehicles. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I CARRY COMMERCIAL COVERAGE ON MY TRUCK, SO I SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO STATE THE VALUES MYSELF ALSO. I have checked into another carrier, Casio Insurance Co., which is suggested on the RSA Network website. I have had contact with these folks and received a quote. They will insure us pilot cars with a stated value, which is what Progressive used to do, and they have designed a program specifically for pilot cars. I suggest checking them out. My husband and I have a clean driving record and Progressive raised our premium over $700 per year. CRAZY!!!! They even claim to have given us a renewal discount. I don't know about you, but every time I receive a DISCOUNT, I expect my price to be lower, not over $700 higher. WE HAVE TO LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER!!! WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!! Take care, DRIVE SAFE and CHECK YOUR INSURANCE POLICYS!!! |
