Dear Truckers,
I am a company driver who lives in Oregon. Unfortunately, Oregon is one of the 5 states in this country that continues to have a ridiculous 55mph speed limit for trucks.
This slow speed is not only dangerous for all trafiic (as numerous studies by federal, state, and private parties have shown), but it also limits our income and forces us to work longer hours but without an increase in pay.
I am pleading with you to sign an online petition that I have created addressed to the Oregon State Legislature and the Governor of Oregon. Even if you are not a resident of Oregon, this affects all truck drivers. So please sign it, and tell everyone you know to sign it as well. Since the Oregon State Legislature recently passed a law authorizing trucks to go up to 65mph (it needed Oredon't DOT approval to pass, which they refused), I feel confident that we can end the 55 in Oregon. Then we can move to other states with the 55mph limit. Please read the petition, sign it, and also check out www.fightthe55.com
