Pastor to Truck Driver
Posted: Mon Jun 11, 2007 11:53:56 AM

Hello:

I am 53 years old and looking into trucking as a second career. Retired several years ago from the ministry. I heard Covenant Trucking is a faith based company. Any others out there? I am going to take my training  at a local technical college where I can do the training on weekends and keep a computer repair job that I have. Glad I found a Christian forum to post on. mcavinee@neo.rr.com

Good luck, We hope our paths cross when you get out here on the road. Maybe we could spend a little time in fellowship together. Feel free to contact us if you need any help while you make this transition. God Bless, Chaplain John www.18wheelsoffaithministries.com

We decided to go with covenant, because they were christian faith based company. I was in theology school myself. Just want you to know that after working for these people, I thought I was dealing with the Devil himself. Christian company , I dont think so . And if you get hurt in a accident in another state, they want you in chat to see their doctors. Then you have additional problem no lawyer wants to get involved. Because your based out of another state. This is a huge problem, truck driver beware. Also I was put in a room at their hotel that was infested with mold and mildew. I had to leave a door open just to breath, not to mention the toilet that overflowed all over the carpet into the room. This was their hotel on their property. I stayed sick for a long time and we were outstanding employees. You will never see the yearly bonus we were told and did not belive until we witnessed it ourselves. Their motto is we dont fire you we let you fire yourselves. Lets also talk about their dispatchers who curse you out and talk down to you after you have been over the road driving back to back for 8 to nine weeks with no day off. Remember team drivers dont let that truck stop. Then you get threaten you can just sit , and you cant go anywhere. Your stuck in their truck after being out 9 weeks approved time off ,but they have other loads and you better hop to and get it done. How about the employees who served this company for years in the office, who commit suicide in the covenent building , who get sick of the company. Thats right I said commit suidide in the office. If you notice when you go in to get logs books at chat they sit behind bullet proof glass windows. When we work their a man who was about to retire was screwed out of his job. He lost his retirement and job so he committed suicide. Its all about the money, Its not about how good you can drive. They get student drivers cheap, runnung miles with trainers. After you have trained if you dont want to pair up with a driver , they will let you sit until you quite. I  witnessed this with several other drivers. This is the worst company to work for and they dont care about anyone. The employees sit behind bullet proof glass, the dispatchers, because they treat the drivers like trash. Dont fall for the christian company title like we did. Remember the Devil can look like anyone you trust. With great sympathy to those who could not deal with them anymore and left this world. Straight Arrow
