Why is it even if you own your own truck and want to lease it on with a company that they do not want to carry passengers. When I say passengers I am referring to family members that like to get away from the house for a while and see just a little bit of the country sides? |

Hello Gary My guess is the Insurance policy of the company you are leased with does not cover passengers. Saves the company money. |

Gary, I own a trucking company that employs 12 drivers and 40 owner operators. It is the insurance company that dictates policy most of the time. THe other issue is most of the time it is not a money saving issue it is you cannot or you will have no insurance. |

Gary, I own a trucking company also and many of the drivers I have had have also acked about famly riding in the trucks. What I do is tell them to just do it. But I also tell them that if thay crash the truck that any famly members need to have helth Insurance. and to expect to use it. Even if the company had pasenger Insurance thay only covers the first $5,000 bucks for medical and thats if the crash is your falt. If the crash is the other gie's falt there liability max is your ceiling of coveradge. But that may take years in cort to get. So for the most part pasengers "not on the job" are flying bie the seat of there pants anyways. A good helth Insurance palicy is realy the only way to go and that covers them no mater what go's wrong. So if you have helth Insurance just go for it, and if you need tell your boss. Tell him thats the way you will go if there is any famly damages or breakage. After that if he still has a problem, he then has no spine, and needs to get one. With all that can go wrong in trucking, pasengers are the least of his concerns. David B. Owner of Galactic Transport- www.galactictransport.com |
