oil leak @ blowby on CAT C7
Posted: Mon Jan 26, 2009 8:51:05 PM

I am getting oil all over the bottom of my truck...  the mechanic says its coming from the blowby tube ...  could mean that the engine needs to be redone ..or the air compressor is effecting the pressure ...has anyone had this similar problem ?  the engine has 465,000 miles on it ...  no loss of power.. no smoking ... just the oil leak...very minimal... a quart every 3 weeks .sometimes ...  doesn't always leak ..  any ideas ????

I'm not formilar with the c7 but check to see if it has a crankcase filter. If it does clean or replace it. Also could the shop be over filling the engine when it's serviced? try leaving it down a little on the dipstick next time. other than that it's probably excessive blowby and getting close to an overhaul.
