McElroy and Roehl

I have just gotten my CDL and am leaning toward these two companies.  Does anyone have any opinions?

Thanks,

Joe

I heard some people say nice things about Roehl. Myself never work for them so I cant comment on that.

Roehl is a good company to run with. Just stay away from the lease program. Most companies with a lease purchase program isn't as good as they make it out to be. With most of the lease options, not only are you making their truck payments for them, you will never completely own the truck without buying it from them after you complete the lease. Then The norm buy out is anywhere from 30,000 to 60,000 depending on the truck you lease and the mileage on it. This means that you just bought them their truck and have to pay for it again to own it. So if the truck cost 120,000 new, you are going to pay 30,000 plus whens the lease is done. This means that you are paying over 150,000 for a truck with 500,000 miles or more on it.

If you wish to lease, go with a company like John Christner aka "JCT". At the end of their lease, you pay one dollar and the truck is yours! Arrow Transportation is another one with a 100 dollar buy out at the end of the lease. Arrow is a Flatbed company. But no matter what you do, if you lease, you have to run hard. 3000 miles or more per week to make out good. 3000 miles seems like a lot to a new driver, but with time and self-training 500 miles a day comes easy with hours to spare providing you learn to master your loggin habits LEGALLY! Good Luck   Paul!

I worked for roehl for six month..I started there as well..The only thing I didnt like about them is that they treat you like a kid..They tell you your route and where to fuel how much to buy..If you go off this route they scream and raise hell with you..There truck look like shit..I was fired from them for trying to clean there truck up ..I had and old international that was heavey oxidated..By the time I was done with it it looked new..But the reason they fired me was because there rims were heavily rusted. So on my home time I took them off sand blasted and repainted them..Keep in mind I like driving a good looking truck but I would think a company that sees a well kept truck thinks this company cares and the driver takes pride in his truck...What they told me was it creates to much heat on the hubs and will cause bearing damage...After being a mechanic myself ,this is a load off bull and a big load off it..I asked them to back it up with a report from the international  company. They could not do it because they new it was bull.So do I think there a good company to drive for Hell no...
