License plate question
Posted: Tue Mar 18, 2008 3:01:00 PM

I went to my vehicle registration department in my county today, to get commercial tags and a transport plate.  I am getting started doing hotshot transport of boats and campers.  The lady in our very small county department told me that I have to go to the state capital and get an apportioned tag.  Any thoughts on this?  I hadn't heard anything like that before.

Thanks,

You need apportioned plates when you plan on crossing State lines for hire. This way each state you run in gets their share of road tax from your registration. Usually the Licensing office/DMV has whats called a IRP Packet. It's an envolope full of paperwork to register for apportioned plates.
