how much weight

how much weight

i am new to the hot shot buisness and just have a question? 

i have a ford f-350 with a 40 ft flatbed gooseneck  i have a state tag for 34,000   my empty weight is 17,000 truck and trailer combined    may sound stupid but do i just subtract the 17,000 from the 34,000 to get the amount of a load i can put on the trailer   thanks!!!
