HOS rules

Hi guys I hope you can help me, please be patient with me as I try & explain my problem,

I have just moved to Canada from the UK & am driving for a company that runs down to the US & back to Canada.

My question is about drivers hours regulations. On your 70hrs/8 day rules, can I keep driving for over 8 days so long as I don't go over 70 hrs & do I take away the 1st day's duty  after 8 days?

I know you will tell me to ask drivers/supervisors up here but I have been given various replies, none of which make any sense to me, I am not a new driver I had been driving in the UK for 25yrs, but we had Tachographs over there & that kept your hours legal for you (more or less)

I would be very gratefull for any help anyone can give me on this

Canada is a quirky Country, whereas here in these unUnited States things with the h. o. s. are goofy enough.
I rarely "follow" the rules here (because they don't make any logical sense) therefore I haven't a clue as to what you can do regarding your queries other than asking your "officials" what the requirements are there.
Yeah, I know that's not what ya wanted to "hear".
