Have CDL-A;want back in the saddle A-gain
Posted: Fri Jan 25, 2008 6:11:28 PM

Let me ask you drivers all something......if you didn't fall under the Grandfather claus, before the CDL went into effect......was it easy getting your CDL-A?Be honest! I payed $3500 for mine,it wasn't easy & I studied, practiced and did my road test with a state trooper in MA. I passed my first time out;5 guys before me failed........they didn't have the take home test some dads or uncles to fill out&you sign;like in New York &Other such states.I quit driving to help my wife raise our 3 kids, who are all grown-up.Now I want to get back in the saddle and have come across all kinds of BS. I recently moved to N.C.,I had to surrender my hazmat end. in order to get my transferred license....and I had to take a test to maintain this license;you DONT just get another one in return like in FLA. orTEX!SOoooo, I figured I'd go and get a refresher and I'm told no refresher,go back to school;$617.00 if a resident for 12 months,$2,997 if not a resident for 12 months. The ironic part was when I ask the intake about the amount I would need down, an illegal was there with someone interpeting for him was given a class start date! What's wrong with this picture? Any wisdom from those in the know would be greatfully appreciated..........by the way,we bought our house in Lenoir,N.C.....WE ARE RESIDENTS  FOR  LIFE,we love the country we were born in(My son comes home from the middle east in April.)
