I have a GPS program on my laptop I got for $79.95 at Target.  It's by DeLorme.  You have to be careful because it does routing for cars and if you don't pay attention you can end up in places where big trucks just shouldn't be.  I usually take the routing my company gives me, put those directions into the program and go that way.  It works out very well, and it really helps with figuring your ETA so you can plan your stops and breaks.  You can personalize the program for your truck (fuel mileage, tank capacity, how many hours you want to drive per day, etc...) so it makes the job a lot easier.

If you've got the cash to spend though, the Copilot program is specific for the trucking industry and I've heard it works very well too.  You can learn more about it at http://www.alk.com/store/whats_included.asp?sku=CPT9US-BT

Good luck!
