Freightliner turbo boost cuts out

I have an 04 Freightliner Columbia. When I first get on the road my turbo boost will cut out for 15-20 min at a time, then will come back on and work good until I stop for fuel or food etc. Then when I start it back up and get back on the highway it acts up again. Its been in several shops several times and replaced sensors, blower, solenoid, v-pod, wiring harness, ECM. Can anyone think of anything that may have been missed? Thanks! Dave J.

We also have been having the same problems, We replaced The Turbo, sensors, wiring harness, Next we are goinhg to try the thermostat. Where the turbo cuts out blows black smoke chokes up coughs then snaps out of it . It's not the injectors, where it does not do it all the time. But when this happens the engine gets hot. Everytime we go to put it on the computer, each mechanic tells us something different. |

I am replying to my own post, for anyone that is interested. The problem is finally resolved after many months of misery, at a Detroit shop in York PA. It had to do with an extra air line going into the air line that went into the V-pod. We went to other Detroit shops and spent thousands of dollars and they couldnt figure it out, but the one in York got us fixed up in no time. I recommend this shop highly and cant praise them enough. Please send shop contact info to me at burrellc@cox.net. My truck has been in and out of the shop 3 times in last week to the tune of $6500 and back in shop as I type waiting repair Oklahoma City. Turbo, EGR, VPOD's for each, exhaust manifold and much more have been replaced. All work done by Freighliner dealerships to boot. Loade enroute to Hatfield, PA so a detour to this shop might solve the problem.HELP!!! |
