Expedite with a truck and enclosed trailer

Hi my name is Thurman. I am interested in getting into the expediting business but all of the companies want you to buy a van or sprinter. my question is why cant you use a pickup truck and an enclosed trailer instead of a cargo van? If anyone has the answer please let me know. also  if you know of any companies that that do alloy you to haul freight this way.
