crime against drivers
Posted: Sat Jun 3, 2006 10:15:17 AM

I am interested in a career as a truck driver. I was reading in a business directory that the job is hazardous not only because of wrecks but crimes against drivers. What is the rate of crimes against drivers? How often and what kind of crime? How safe would you say trucking is? Thanks for any information. Hal

Hal,
Where have you heard of crimes against drivers? i don't think truck drivers are involved in crimes any more than anyone else. Truck driving I think is a fairly or safe job. Your risk of being in an acccident inctrease because the amount of exposre /  road time increases. One of the most frequent injuries drivers suffer is tying down the load or entering or exiting the truck.

I am a retired Fugitive Investigator with the S.C. Dept. of Corrections and on my own i am working on some very old cold case escapes one of which is a Dallas Norman Smallwood, white male, DOB 01/06/1956. who escaped from prison in 1977. I found out his mother died several years ago and the obit did not list him but did list a son by the name of Weylon Wilson Brock from Kentucky. I interviewed  two of his uncles about the death of his mother and they said, "quote",  the sorry SOB some how changed his name to Weylon Wilson Brock and is driving a 18 wheeler truck out of Kentucky. They went on to say that they had heard remarks that he is making a good living by driving the truck  and also somehow may be stealing stuff he hauls and sells it on the side. The uncles also stated that when he came to the mothers funeral he hid the truck and got a cab to the funeral so they would not know the name of the company he drives for. If their is any way any of you can advise me in who to get in touch with in the state of Kentucky about maybe an association that keeps names of drivers in Kentucky please let  me know.   Many thanks, Roy Corbitt1-803-796-1762  E-Mail rcorbitt@sc.rr.com  If you can call me let it ring twice and then hang up and i will call you back ASAP as i have free long distance calling service nationwide.
