Cost break down of shipping through trucking
Posted: Wed Aug 15, 2007 7:07:02 PM

Hello looking for some information on how trucking companies estimate their shipping costs.  Looking to find out information of a cost break down based on $/mi or $/lb, plus any fuel surcharges.

some exaples items to be shipped would be:

40' flat
40' open top
40' box container
oversized and overweight items
or if i have a 150,000lb item that i need shipped from the east coast to somewhere mid US or mid Canada

trying to build a model in excel that will allow me to put in weight and distance needed to be traveled to get an estimated cost.

Any help would be appreciated.  Also if there is a resource with a national average of $/mi or $/weight, please let me know.

Thank you for your time

Orintern:

There is no national average that I know. Every shipment is different. The cost depends on so many factors it is hard to standardize shipments. You could post your shipments to our rate consortium to find out an average price.
