Considering an upgrade
Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2006 7:01:10 PM

I have an '87 Ford F800 with a fairly new (50,000 miles) engine and a 40' enclosed gooseneck trailer. I have not put either of them to use yet, but I am considering selling this truck and getting a 1-ton dually. Some questions I have are: Can a 1-ton dually effectively and efficiently pull this kind of trailer? What type of fuel mileage could I expect? I am just starting out in the business and would like some guidance, so if anyone could take the time to answer my questions and throw some tips at me, I would most certainly appreciate it. Thank you.

Not telling you to stay with Fords, but since you have one, thought you might be more familiar with Ford models. Stay with at least F-650. Is designed for heavier use. If I can help in anyway, let me know.
