CLUTCH BRAKE
Posted: Sun Oct 7, 2007 10:08:39 PM

I have a 2002 Peterbilt  c15 engine and a eaton transmission. I just had my truck serviced and greased and since then

I don't know if my clutch is gone or if they over greased the clutch brake . I have to shut the truck off to get started

if I have to come to a full stop. I have also notice that when I step on the clutch the transmission keeps turning. Do

Ihave a clutch brake that needs adjusting or a clutch that is going or gone.

If you mean it wont go in gear because it grinds then your clutch brake is probably out of adjustment. You neet to shorten the clutch linkage, (if you are going in the right direction it will make your clutch pedal have less free travel) there are rods that are threaded with lock nuts on them. it usually only needs about 6 turns to correct it.  Many times when you adjust the linkage to dial in the clutch brake it will put your clutch out of adjustment and it will need adjusted too. If it is out very far you may need to shorten the linkage rods again after adjusting the clutch to get the correct adjustment on the clutch brake.
