Can I get trucking with a misdemeanor?

I got a misdemeanor three years ago, fleeing to elude on a dirt bike. (It really was a big misunderstanding) but the judge didnt want to hear about it. I work a government job, and they had no problem with the incident after I explained myself, (and they stopped laughing), but when I applied for a truck driving job, they said their policy was no misdemeanors within five years. Is this the norm with trucking companies and do I have to wait two more years? I was 40 years old at the time and It was my first offence. It was not traffic related and did not affect my CDL. I need some answers. Thanks

Greg:

Most companies do have a standard policy of no misdemeanors in 5 years policy. It is more the insurance sompanies policy than trucking companies.
