Hi BC, I am Roger George, RPG Pilot Car Services LLC. I'v been trucking since 1975, transporting Haz-Waste the past 20 years. I just jumped into the Pilot Car business in August. (And discovered the "hard-way" there are bogus folks in this business too! The 1st lady I worked with talked me into Jdeadheading 430 miles to Pensacola FL to escort a superload (180,000lb windmill nacelle) to NW Pennsylvania, approximately 1000 miles. We were delayed from Wed noon the 2nd day of the trip until Tue the next week waiting for permits. The "lady" I was working with, J.D. or "Joan" with Sundance Escort Services, Archer City TX initially said she was paying me 1.15 per mile plus $60.00 per night for motels. To make a long story short, after being out-of-pocket more than $1500. for the 2-weeks, she hasn't paid me a dime yet!

Sorry for rambling on. How do you obtain permitting for piloting in Canada, Alaska & the Yukon? I am Oklahoma and New York certfied and fully insured thru Progressive. I do not really expect to get up towards Alaska or the Yukon, but if I was offered a run I wouldn't hesitate to take it if I was properly accredited. My 1st experience set me back a bunch but I am still managing to hang in there, thanks to Comdata Pilot cCar Dispatch. They're not the best paying outfit to work through, but they do pay on-time. If not for them I would have had to return to trucking by now already. And the people in Disatch have always treated me well.

I live in Olive Branch Mississippi, just South of Memphis Tennessee. Everyone I talk to says this is a good area to be in for pilotcar work. Unfortunately the economic slump has adversely affected all types of businesses across the board. Hopefully things will turn around soon.
