Advantages and Disadvantages of Starting A Trucking Company

For all those out there who are operating under their own authority, what advantages and disadvantages have you come across trying to start your own company?  What do you like the most about what you do?  What do like the least about what you do?  For you to lease your truck on with a company, what do you look for?  As a driver or business owner, what is the hardest thing about the transportation industry?

The most difficult part I have seen with starting a Trucking Company is/are the startup capital regarding: Equipment, Insurance, Tags, Location of Business, Insurance, and other related items, like Insurance. One as well needs startup Capital as well to cover the 'break in period". Insurance plays an integral role in Trucking specifically because Insurance detemines exactly what WILL and WILL NOT OCCUR.
Try hiring someone that an Insurance company will not qualify: one could verily lose their Insurance.

I'm a Company Driver WITHOUT the curiosity of owning my own equipment. I've seen too many people come in and run away because of THE COSTS involved in Trucking.
There ARE ENOUGH HEADACHES just being a Company Driver.
