A Coordinated National Strike

I would like to know if anyone is interested in organizing a national trucker strike. I realize that many have attempted to do this in the recent past, however I want to coordinate an event on a larger scale. As a trucker's wife I know that going any legnth of time without a paycheck is considered financial suicide however, at the rate its going we're all going to be either unemployed or laid off. We are feeding the big dogs that are getting fatter and fatter. I say withhold the food and let them live on their reserves for awhile!!! I would love to see around election time Washington become gridlocked (the horror of them having to cancel the 100,000. plus inugral ball that our tax $ is paying for and we don't even get a piece of cake!!!HELLOO) park the trucks and tell the pres (old and new) you midaswell take the trucks because we can't afford to run them anymore!!! Gridlock truckstops and other areas throughout the US. Just surrender it all since we do not seem to have anyone in Gov't willing to help. This is doable on a large scale if we can all network together and make it happen. I am willing to do whatever it takes to take a stand, and create a network among ourselves to meet the needs of my fellow truckers and their families to help get us through the times ahead. We are the change we want to see in our world and we have the spirit of the American Trucker If you are interested in working with me to set up a network and organize this strike pls email me jbarnes3333@yahoo.com asap! God Bless and we're all on this journey together no one stands ALONE! Jen |

and who are you going to strike against....??? the average consumer has just as many problems as we do.....you think that by with holding food stuff and medicines from the people is the way to go at it.....?? you are out of your fricking mind........every one has problems, not just truckers. as said in the current issue of OOIDA's magazine, charge appropriately for your services, or just don't haul the cheap freight. but to try and hold the american people ransom for your mis-management of YOUR finances is B.S. Go ahead and "strike"........against the unkown source........makes sense...huh...?? |

ok maybe I miscommunicated my idea. First let me say I'm just the wife of a hard working trucker who loves what he does and I support him and all the other drivers out there. I would never suggest to do anything that would hurt or create pain for another person. The whole big dog food comment was simply to illustrate that I feel we (anyone who pays for fuel) are making the pockets of the guys on top larger and I was naive enough to think in large numbers we could make some sort of statement to the government that we have had enough paying these high prices for fuel. It was not my intent to offend or suggest anything that would create further hardships on innocent people. I apologize sincerely for offending anyone or coming across radical and insensitive. I just firmly believe until the powers that be are inconvenienced and have to reach in their own pockets to put gas in their cars and feel a portion of the "sting" we feel on a daily basis then things are not going to change. Please stay safe on our highways and God Bless Jen |

Greetings from California where Truckers are paying $5.45 a gallon for diesel and are dropping like flies. Sadly, the price seems to go up daily. And we live within 20 miles of the refineries. Unfortunately, the high price of fuel will soon (if not already) felt in our food prices where we are paying $3.50 for butter when it's on sale. In California, you're lucky to get a loaf of bread on sale for under $3 bucks. I agree there needs to be some sort of effort to draw attention to the pain the truckers are feeling at the pumps. Where are the lobbyists in Washington anyway? Jen is correct when she says the folks in Washington aren't feeling the pinch - everything they do is subsidized by government dollars. Maybe a national DON'T BUY ANY DIESEL TODAY will help. Refineries just aren't making enough diesel. Therefore the price is going through the roof. The trick to bring down the price of diesel is to build up reserves. To make a real statement, try not buying it once a week for a month??? If everybody doesn't buy on the same day is the way to make a statement. Folks would have to think ahead and plan their trips around it. If you need it, buy it the night before. I vote for every Wednesday (hump day) to get us over the hump and not go bankrupt (like all the airlines). Also, maybe truckers could stop their trucks on the side of the roads for 5 minutes and blow their horns. Maybe they could put black flags on their trucks as a sign of solidarity? Just some thoughts. All I know is it's tough out here for the truckers! Pretty soon, I'll be saying "truckers, what truckers, we have truckers? Hang in there everybody! P.S. I don't know about everywhere else, but fuel prices - from regular to diesel - is pretty much standardized throughout California. It is $4.07 for regular in downtown San Francisco, San Diego, Stockton, Redding and Sacramento. There used to be some variation depending where you were. I know everyone says there's no price fixing going on, but come on!!!!! Sometimes I feel like I'm in some sick South Park episode and it just won't end |

Wife or Driver or Consumer, We are all getting hit and hit hard with the fuel prices. The FAT Happy Cat sits on top, yeh they are jerks! They're laughing at us!
Ignore the (pro guy) he's got his undies in a wad. He's paying to much too. But he is right about striking. The G'ment has it where that's impossible to hurt them, you'll just hurt yourself. (HE just said it in a MEAN way!)
Writting letters really doesn't help either (tried that). I think we will see some changes (hopefully good) after the next pres sits down. He'll have to "impress" his new subjects. We are just slaves. This county is one step from Fascism. They wont drill in Alaska because it might upset the bears. DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW (think they have a website now)
Between the auto makers and the oil tycoons they have a noose around our necks. They have made us dependent on them and now we are all just puppets.
There are major changes for the industry coming just like all other major industries have had to go through tough times and changes. Look for the silver lining (ps. not always visible). More stuff being hauled RR, most are hiring.
Good Luck.. . prayers with.... Lady Hawke
