2010 regs for truckers

I heard there are new trucking regs starting this year that will put a lot of truckers out of work. What are the new regs exactly and why are so many qualified drivers going to be out of work because of them? I also heard they are already running pilot programs w/ the new regs in Delaware and Wyoming. Are drivers who are passing through those states need to be in compliance with the new regs? Thanks, Bob

What you are hearing is most likely talk of CSA 2010. There will be no mass firing of drivers causing a driver shortage in the industry! The FMCSA doesn't have the authority to fire any driver. They do however have the power to close the doors on non-compliant companies that don't keep their drivers in line. If you run legal, obey the laws of the land and don't get many moving violations and aren't involved in many DOT recordable accidents (an accident where one or more vehicles are towed, and injury that is treated away from the scene, or a fatality) then you will be fine. |
