1998 FLC120 Electrical/ Tail light/problems
Posted: Mon Mar 22, 2010 9:56:44 AM

Hi, guys, dont know where to start.  Will go as we worked on itt. OK, HD light and markr int Switches are 3 month old. We are loosing tail lights on truck. When switch in Tail position we have "disco" with tail lights, looks like shortening. Tail light fuse is hot/shortening and relay clicking. When we put head lights on, tail lght will click few times and its gone. then we have 3 fuses hot. Left headlight,/tail and to the right on fuse board, small black ting/box, get hot(signed as tail also. Trailer markers always working. but :) when we turn panel light on(dimmer) then we have Trailer markers shortage and they are gone. brake lights and 4ways working fine, just a tail lights. When guys was driving it home, they said they smell a electrical wires for a bit, but, that was when they were driving, so. Putting all together, I was thinking, its not the lights or the wires that go ti tail and headlight( we disconnected plugs, its same thing. Smell of the melting wire was inside, so, looks like fuse box, thats why dimmer when it turned on its shortening trailer markers, so, its not under the truck. Specially when switch  in tail light position we have dash computer jumping Fuel/trip milage/reset/ temp messages. So, I think it shortening when all the wires comes together in fuse box or in dash. We have dash a part already, but we didnt touched fuse box yet, to see whats under it. So.. thats the story... :(  We need help...Thank you guys...Alex.  603.-5 four 0-six 345, just in case...
