Re: Room in the industry for quality freight brokers?Husband/Wife Team DriversFrom: tat2dup CommentsMe and my husband are thinking about team driving for Schneider. Does anyone know how many h/w teams last compared to how many start? From: Kelly Lehman CommentsWhere are you located and looking to run loads from? In California there does seem to be a pretty well-saturated field. However running loads from east to west seems to need to be covered much better. Might not need to have an office on the east coast to accomplish. Many trucks are on the east coast and cannot get back in a timely manner. Might consider that aspect. Also might consider working for a larger firm rather than on your own. Lot less hassle. Most work for commission when they do that. If you set something up in the near future with runs east coast to west coast, let us know. Kelly LehmanPhantom Cowboy Express Last changed: March 26, 2004Additional Info on the "10 Meter Radio" issue! IMPORTANT!From: RadioRay CommentsIn the lastest developments in the 10 Meter Radio issue, FCC has issued a warning to Roper Electronics of Tomah, WI to cease the sale of certain "export" and "10 Meter" radios that do not have FCC approval for sale in the USA. This is in response to complaints from both domestic and foreign hams over the illegal use of 10 and 12 meters by unlicensed truckers and other CB opera- tors. FCC's enforcement activities against illegal operators has been on the increase since the appointment of Mr. Riley Hollingsworth to Special Coun- sel for Amateur Enforcement several years ago. Almost immediately, Mr Hollingsworth, also an Amateur Radio Operator, began to take action against rogue hams that were not following the rules of the Service. Then he vowed to take action against those who would en- croach onto licensed spectrum and inter- fere with licensed, legal operators. This latest action is part of a stepped- up enforcement initiative promised by Mr. Hollingsworth in a meeting with the ARRL's RF Interference Committee recent-ly and reiterating promises made previously. Apparently, we will be seeing more and more of these enforce- ment actions against both sellers AND companies whose drivers break the rules governing radio. More than 22 vendors and users have received letters of varying degrees of warning/fines since Mr. Hollingsworth began his tenure over the use of illegal radios. |
