I am considering starting a shipping brokerage business in Nebraska. What do I need to do to get started and where can I go for training and to learn more about the business?

Dear mike,Log hauling is more a good old boy thing. I do not know of any brokers in the log business. Try your phone book and look for sawmills or timbering companies and give them a call. If you have alot of amish sawmills in your area go see them since most don't have phones. To get started OTR you need to locate either a dispacther or company. Let me explain a broker is independent a dispatcher usually represents a company and is paid a commision on the amount of freight they move through a company. A broker pays what he feels or must to move the load. You will have to find whatever is in your area but, I suggest a company over a dispatcher. You ask what year companies require. Every company is different and it does depend on the type of hauling you are doing. I don't know what area you are in for me to suggest more. If you want to let me know I might be able to help more. GOOD LUCK
